Recycle Tweets

The following was taken from a blog post on Socialvibe.com. I do not own any rights or credit.

Recycle Your Friends' Trashy, Boring Tweets
POSTED 3 DAYS AGO

Fed up with your Twitter stream being cluttered with useless tweets? Rather than go on an unfollowing-spree, use it as an opportunity torecycle your friends tweets and raise money for getTRASHED, a recycling education program.

Re:cycled Tweets is a new program from GetTRASHED.org and McKinney's that allows you to recycle your friends boring tweets, in turn saving your social media experience, and saving the planet as well.

How do you recycle a tweet?

    - @ reply to someone who posted something super lame/boring/useless.

    - Copy & paste their original tweet, but include the hashtag #recyclethis.

    - Recyledtweets.com will "recycle it" and send them a new, transformed tweet crafted from the characters of their original tweet.

For each recycled tweet, $.01 will be donated to getTRASHED.org, an ongoing recycling education program that redefines the way people view recycling and trash collection.

When you think of the abundance of silly tweets in need of 'recycling' out there, this could seriously make millions. Get recycling now!

Don't forget to follow us on Twitter, @SocialVibe, we won't even mind if you recycle our tweets!

Old newspapers

I recently came across some ideas on how to use old newspapers. It is not an extensive list and if you have any more tips feel free to send them to me and I will add them to the list. Enjoy!

  • According to Snapple, old newspapers are great for washing windows. It was a snapple fact so yes, you should believe it.
  • With rain and snow coming, you can use newspapers to dry your soaked shoes. Crumple them up, put them inside your shoes, and they will absorb the water.
  • Use newspapers for packaging items or use the colorful comics to wrap a present.
  • Old newspapers are also good fire starters. Tear some into strips and put them on top and underneath the wood.
  • Of course there is the obvious use of laying down newspapers for arts and crafts as well.
  • A creative idea for students: At your home basketball games, bring enough newspaper for your student section and hold them up when they announce the visiting team's starting line-up. A little mean? Yes. But everyone should try it at least once because it is funny.

GoodSearch

Okay, so I can't post anymore of those SocialVibe gadgets because the codes are all the same! So it would be the same activity (the one posted below.)

Moving on to a new topic, a while ago I found a search engine that helps charities. About 31 billion searches are performed on Google every month. If a fraction of those searches were performed on the search engine, Good Search, charities would significantly be helped.

GoodSearch (www.goodsearch.com) donates money every time you search a topic on their search engine. If 100 people were to perform 2 searches every day for a year, $730 would be donated to the charity of your choice. Yes, you get to pick your charity! And you do not need to sign up for anything.

Good search not only donates money every time you use the search a topic, but every time you make a purchase via GoodShop, their online search engine for shopping. GoodShop contains popular stores like Amazon, Best Buy, Apple, Bloomingdales, and Barnes&Noble. A percentage of your total purchase will be donated to your charity. For example, a purchase on Sephora through GoodShop will give you a 2.5%-3.5% donation towards your charity.

To make it easier to use GoodSearch, you can install the GoodSearch toolbar or add GoodSearch to your search box.

Donate 275 gallons of clean drinking water!

The following gadget is from a networking website called SocialVibe. As a member, activities are posted on my dashboard for me to do. SocialVibe allows you to share these activities with other people so they can also contribute to your cause. (My cause is Charity:water.) All of the activities are risk-free and take less than minute. Completion of one activity translates to 275 gallons of water! Here is the first one to try...more will be coming later!

Complete this activity with Coffee Mate by filling out an encouraging note to Dress for Success. (You can even submit it without entering your email address. Just leave it blank.)

This activity came from the website :

www.socialvibe.com.

It is not my intention to advertise for these sponsors. Only to help charities through these sponsors. Thanks for your help!
